These are comfortable for wearing under regular pants or even snow gear. The leggings are longer than I anticipated and go to the ankles, which I appreciate. Previous ColdGear items I purchased stopped a few inches shy of the ankles, like capri pants, but these will easily go to the ankle bone. They are good at maintaining a core temperature on the legs, but they do lose their effectiveness a little in the wind. If I had some nylon pants over the top to block the wind I think these would be just what the doctor ordered.
